Dr. Georg Suter studied chemistry at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and has a PhD in Physical Chemistry. He then worked in the Safety Testing Lab of Sandoz and became Corporate Safety Officer for Clariant. For the last 20 years, he was Senior Consultant for Swissi and TÜV SÜD.
In 2000 he joined the Swiss Safety Institute, where initially he was responsible for the Testing Lab. As a consultant he specialized in ATEX issues, Thermal Process Safety and HSE Management Systems. He developed several hands-on tools and training packages for various companies and public associations to promote Process Safety and to facilitate the implementation of Safety Concepts. 2012-2017 he was CEO of Swissi Process Safety GmbH – now TÜV SÜD Process Safety. 1989-2019 he was Member of the Loss Prevention Working Party of the European Federation of Chemical Engineers (EFCE), which he chaired 2004-2007. 1996-2006 he was Member of the Technical Steering Committee of the European Process Safety Center EPSC, in chair 2004-2005. Currently Dr. Georg Suter is Senior Process Safety Consultant for TÜV SÜD Process Safety.
