IND EX® e.V. eElects New Board and Honors Outgoing President

IND EX® e.V., the Intercontinental Association of Experts for Industrial Explosion and Fire Safety, is pleased to announce the unanimous election of its new board.

Dr. Johannes Lottermann, CBDO at REMBE® GmbH Safety+Control, has been elected as the new President, with Aleksandar Agatonović, CEO of RICO SICHERHEITSTECHNIK AG, serving as Vice President.
As their first official act, the new board honored former President Richard Siwek, recognizing his lifetime achievements and unwavering dedication to explosion safety. In recognition of his invaluable contributions, Siwek has been named Honorary President of IND EX®. Founded in 2009, IND EX® initially gained prominence through its globally held Explosion Safety Conferences. In recent years, under Siwek’s leadership, the association focused on large-scale explosion research and the development of eLearnings and safety tools for consultants, including the Thermal Safety Tool and ExTools.

A New Era: Expanding Reach and Impact
Dr. Johannes Lottermann and Aleksandar Agatonović have set a clear mission to enhance IND EX® visibility and impact by combining past achievements with future innovations.

Their strategic initiatives include:
  • Active participation in standardization committees such as EN 14491, incorporating the latest findings on explosion venting efficiency.
  • A technical podcast, INsiDEX, featuring expert discussions on explosion protection.
  • A frequent open forum, "Ask the EXpert", allowing professionals to engage with specialists on pressing safety challenges.
  • An IND EX® Industry Safety Forum on Gas and Vapour Explosion on 25th of June in Braunschweig.
  • Enhanced funding to promote the research activities of the Scientific Technical Committee led by Dr. Kees van Wingernden
  • Frequent posts on Social Media channels to increase awareness for the activities of the association in general and learnings for the operational practice of explosion safety in particular

IND EX® is also launching a membership growth campaign, aiming to double its membership within the first year. The association welcomes new members from industry, research and consulting to join in shaping the future of industrial explosion and fire safety.
